This hike starts at the central hiking trail signpost tree on Hexentanzplatz. From here, follow the red dot marking on level paths past the animal park with a detour to the viewpoint »La Viershöhe« (view into the Bodetal, stamp point of the Harz hiking badge).
The path continues past the Arrow Monument to the viewpoint »Weißer Hirsch« (view of Treseburg) and from there steeply down into the Luppbodetal. Shortly afterwards you reach Treseburg, where you follow the signage of the Harzer Hexen-Stieg river upstream to Altenbrak. From the edge of Altenbrak, the hiking trail runs between the guesthouse »Jägerbaude« and the guesthouse »Harzresidenz« over Osterberg to the large parking lot in the town center.
From here, following the green witch marking, you pass historic old mining sites, go under a historic water bridge, pass a trout breeding facility with a place to stop for refreshments, and then reach the town of Wendefurth. Crossing federal highway 81, you reach the Wendefurther dam.
