From the central hiking meeting point, the route leads across the spa park, past the St. Peter's Church to Hubertusstrasse. You follow this road to the right towards the entrance area of the Bodetal until you reach the bridge, over which the valley station of the cable car is accessible on the right side. With this, you can ride to the Hexentanzplatz and thus save yourself the steepest climb of the route. Alternatively, a path on the left, diagonally opposite the bridge (blue dot in a white rectangle), leads in hairpin bends past the Harz Mountain Theatre and the Walpurgis Hall up to the Hexentanzplatz with its extensive tourist offerings (witches' house, animal park with witch golf, Harzbob) and dining opportunities. From the central square with the figure group "Witches' Ring," a detour to the viewpoint next to the Berghotel Hexentanzplatz should not be missed. Here, visitors are presented with a fascinating view into the rugged rock gorge and to the opposite rock plateau of the Roßtrappe. The path (white rectangle, red dot) leads past the animal park to the viewpoints LaVireshöhe and, if interested, via another detour to the viewpoint Prinzensicht up to the monument dedicated to Friedrich Wilhelm Pfeil, the founder of the Prussian Forestry Academy. After the Dammbach Valley, keep right (white rectangle, red dot) and reach Treseburg after a steep descent via the viewpoint "White Deer." Just before entering the village, a path to the right always follows along the Bode back to Thale. However, a visit to the romantic Bodetal village of Treseburg with its stone houses, the Furth, and the clock museum is recommended beforehand. The specialty of the village, trout from the Bode, is offered in various preparations at the dining options.
The most strenuous part of the hike is now done. The return route spoils the hiker with spectacular views into the rock scenery of the alpine-like valley. Behind the Bode basin with its raging waters, visitors cross the Devil's Bridge to the other side of the valley just before the Königsruh inn. The path leads to the cable car station and from there back to the station.
The route can also be hiked in a shortened and easier version without major ascents and descents only from Treseburg to Thale. Treseburg is well accessible from Thale via two bus lines.
At the central large car park about 200 m from the station.
