With the help of this short variant, you can combine the hike on the Harzer-Hexen-Stieg with a crossing of "Titan RT", the longest suspension bridge of its kind (ticket required).
From Gesundbrunnen in Neuwerk, you branch off the Harzer-Hexen-Stieg to the right (south) and follow the "HET path" and the signage with the blue triangle towards the Rappbode reservoir.
At the parking lot for visitors to the attractions at the dam (suspension bridge, mega zipline, etc.), you must buy a ticket for the suspension bridge either at the machine or at the cashier and then follow the signs to the bridge. Here, especially on weekends, longer waiting times may occur. The current prices and information are available at www.titan-rt.de.
After crossing the bridge, it goes steeply downhill directly to the Wendefurth reservoir, which you half circle, and in Wendefurth you meet the Harzer-Hexen-Stieg again.
Of course, you can also follow the path in the opposite direction.
Anyone who wants to cross the bridge must definitely be free of vertigo. If you suddenly realize that you do not want to cross the bridge after all, you can also detour over the dam wall of the Rappbode reservoir (free of charge, nice view of the suspension bridge).
Especially on weekends, there can be long waiting times at the suspension bridge. It is therefore recommended to plan the route so that you reach the bridge either on weekdays or early in the morning or late in the evening.
