If you have always wanted to walk in the footsteps of Wilhelm Busch, you can also do so in Mechtshausen. The famous poet spent his last 10 years of life there.

Wilhelm Busch is known to have taken walks frequently and looked at the village idyll from a distance. A specially created "Wilhelm Busch Path," with quotes from his letters, offers insight into his life. Enjoy a view from the Heber down onto the surrounding villages during your walk, over which Busch wrote: "... Then, from the shady path, you see the little villages of Mechtshausen, Rhüden Bornhausen, and the small town of Seesen lying below in the sunshine ...".
