St. Georg's Church Neustadt

Short facts

  • Harztor OT Neustadt

The church, as it stands today, was rebuilt in 1686 after the great fire in 1678, during which it was completely destroyed.

The building, which is made of large local porphyry stones, has undergone few changes since then. When it was renovated in 1972, however, its 4 corner towers on the high helmet were removed.
Donors provided for the new furnishing of the church; two new bells were donated by Count von Stolberg in 1698.
