Neustädter Roland

Short facts

  • Harztor OT Neustadt

The best-preserved, larger-than-life Roland statue from 1730 is still standing today and can be viewed at Neustädter Ratskeller (Town Hall Cellar).

Neustadt was originally a small market town when it was first officially recorded in 1372, but then it developed rapidly, until in 1485 the town was allowed to build a town hall and erect a Roland statue as a sign of its jurisdiction.
