This section of the path along the Rehberger Graben ditch is around 700 m long. Here you can explore part of the Upper Harz Water Management System.

The Upper Harz Water Management System is part of the UNESCO World Heritage in the Harz.

The water transport ditches and storage ponds were needed to supply energy for the mines in the Harz. The water wheels in the mines were needed to hoist the extracted ore to the surface. And to pump out water from the mine galleries.

Our audio guide has six information stations which will tell you about the water transport ditch system.

Around the town of Sankt Andreasberg water power has been used for more than 500 years – earlier for mining and today to produce electricity.

The audio guide is available in German, English and in simple language.
