Circular tour along the Morgenbrodtsthaler Graben ditch. A hike through the wild, romantic mountain landscape of the High Harz.

This hiking route goes through a wild and romantic mountain landscape, passing cliffs, weirs and rushing water. Here you can find many nice spots to take a break.

The Morgenbrodtsthaler Graben was used to bring water from the High Harz to Clausthal. In Clausthal the water was needed for the water wheels at the mines.

Here the terrain is steep and rocky in many places. The ditch had to be painstakingly hammered out of the cliffs by hand. This was a difficult and very strenuous job, which took a long time.

On this walk you can enjoy fantastic views. When you have finished, the restaurant at the Sperberhaier Dammhaus will be waiting for you.
