Hike from Auerhahn to Bockswiese. Crisscross past the Auerhahn ponds.

The Auerhahn Cascade in the old mining area of Bockswiese is a real masterpiece. The pond system is located in the middle of the Harz UNESCO World Heritage Site and is the largest pond system in the entire Upper Harz water management. Since 1680, the system has supplied the mines in Bockswiese with water for the water wheels. The 6 ponds are almost triangular and lie like steps on top of each other. The hiking trail is 6 kilometers long. Information boards along the trail explain why six ponds were built here and how water supply through the Upper Harz dams worked.
