Route hike over the Sperberhaier Damm, one of the key elements of the Upper Harz Water Management system. Both at the start and at the destination, hiking inns invite you to take a rest.

The Sperberhaier Damm is the most impressive structure of the Upper Harz Water Management and a core piece of the dam ditch system named after it. The 940 m long and 16 m high aqueduct directs water over a basin at Sperberhai onto the Clausthal plateau. Including all branches reaching to the Brockenfeld, the dam ditch system has a length of almost 50 km. From its "cradle" below Torfhaus to the Upper Hausherzberger pond near Clausthal-Zellerfeld, the 20 km long ditch loses only 60 m in height.
