Tip: Activate the audio guide mode in the app. At 6 stations, you will learn interesting details about the Upper Harz water management.

This forest path section along the Rehberger Graben is approximately 700 meters long. Here you can explore part of the Upper Harz water management, which has been part of the UNESCO World Heritage in the Harz since 2010.

The water ditches and pond systems were used for energy supply in the Harz mines. The water wheels in the mines were needed to bring the extracted ores up. And to pump water out of the tunnels.

Around Sankt Andreasberg, hydropower has been used for more than 500 years – formerly for mining and today to generate electricity.

Our audio guide tells you more about the water ditch system at 6 stations.

The audio guide is available in German, English, and easy language.
