Waldhofmännchenweg as circular route

Directly on federal highway 242 at the exit of Alexisbad, the Waldhofmännchenweg and Selketalstieg gently ascend out of the Selke valley. Shortly before Hänichen, the Waldhofmännchenweg branches off from the Selketalstieg to the left and circles around the Mühlköpfe. An almost straight path section follows, called the "chimney line," leading to a historically informative viewpoint of Silberhütte. From there, it descends quite steeply and partly via stairs back into the Selke valley. After crossing the bridge over the Selke and the Selketalbahn line, the Waldhof in Silberhütte is reached.

With the Selketalbahn, you can travel back from Silberhütte to Alexisbad within one station. Alternatively, you can hike about 6.5 km further from Silberhütte roughly parallel to the district road back to the station in Alexisbad, passing by the engagement urn.

Not passable in snow and ice, not cleared.

Sturdy hiking shoes, weather- and hiking-proof clothing.

Train and bus connections from start and end points are optimal.

Unfortunately, there are no dining options in Silberhütte, but there are several very well-equipped sheltered and covered rest areas at the Waldhof. Campfires and grill use can be registered with the Waldhofverein.

Also possible as a circular hike with an additional approx. 6.5 km back to Alexisbad.
