The two options of our hike begin in the leisure facility of the Citizens' Association Harriehausen. We orient ourselves towards the railway embankment and walk a short stretch through the park. After going under the railway, we turn left and follow the trail markers on a field path to the edge of the forest. On a forest road, we soon reach the "Battlefield at Harzhorn" without turning. Accompanied by the white-red or white-blue trail markers, our path now leads up onto the ridge of the Vogelsberg. The shorter blue-white variant turns right here and reaches Harriehausen again without turning. The more demanding red-white variant follows the old "Fastweg" for about another kilometer until we reach the inconspicuous forest path equipped with a barrier on the left. It leads us about 100 m uphill and then straight down along an old forest border to the edge of the forest. We turn right and shortly before the path leaves the forest, we ascend right on an unpaved forest path a short distance uphill, then turn left onto a narrow path to reach the meadows at the edge of the forest. At the left edge of the forest, we follow the meadow path until at the next fork we can ascend right into the forest. Our path now meets an unpaved forest road that after a short stretch through a spruce forest leads back onto the Fastweg. Here we keep left. Then it goes downwards in wide arcs, partly quite steep, to the edge of the forest above Harriehausen. Here, a trail along the forest edge leads us right around several forest patches back to the starting point.
