A short walk to the Steinholzwarte with a beautiful view of the Harz foreland.
From Lazarettstraße, walk over Schillerstraße towards the traffic light intersection. From the intersection, follow the signage for the Harzklub hiking trail 45G (green cross) towards Halberstadt: Halberstädter Straße, then turn left onto Steinholztriftweg, at Helmsteinberg turn right, cross the A36 over a bridge beyond Zapfenbach, then turn left after the bridge and continue straight ahead to the ascent to the Steinholzwarte.
In the 19th century, the Harzklub branch associations created tree-lined avenues leading to the most beautiful excursion destinations in their care areas. Along the way to Steinholz, this can still be seen behind the A36. The Steinholzwarte is a watchtower from the medieval period and was converted into an observation tower at the end of the 19th century on the initiative of the Quedlinburg Harzklub branch association. The ascent is via a stone spiral staircase. From the top, there is a beautiful view of the Harz and the Harz foreland. The return route is the same as the outward journey.
