The varied path leads through forests, fields, and also urban areas. Numerous animal and plant species inhabit the roadside, offering an unforgettable nature experience.
Start at the "Window to the Harz" at Jacobsonplatz. When you are standing in front of the window, go left up Jacobsonstraße and turn right into Bismarckstraße. At the intersection, turn right, cross the street, and head up to Hasseberg. Follow Bergstraße, passing Tilly's Table - from this table, Count Tilly is said to have led the battle of Lutter am Barenberge in 1626; he allowed the plundering and burning of Seesen. Continue over Lauseberg to Dehneplatz. There stands the memorial stone of the "Reich Labour Service." Turn left downhill, then at the next junction turn right and continue until the Forellenstiegbrücke at the Lautenthaler Straße exit. Refreshments are available at the kiosk in the spa park, Hippocrates – Greek restaurant. Continue through the Steinway Kurpark (established in 1892 and named after the famous piano maker), passing Vogelwecker and the five spa park ponds. Hike along the Schildau to the tennis courts. At the bridge, turn left and then immediately right, continuing to Wilhelmshöher Straße. Here, the route can be divided; those who cannot continue take the left path to the center. Those still with strength go right and shortly after turn left into Talstraße. After 100 m, a narrow path leads down to the Schildau on the left. Follow the brook’s course to the Braunschweigerstraße exit. Cross the street and follow the forest path. At the SV Union sports grounds, turn left and follow the path to the pumping station, then turn right into the forest. Continue to the junction at Silberhohl (a 7,000-year-old sinkhole), here climb the path on the left. At the top, you can look inside the sinkhole. At the next junction, turn right and follow the field path up to the Großer Schildberg – at an altitude of 276 m, you have a magnificent view of the surrounding communities. The path continues along Schildbergstraße, offering a splendid view of the Hebers ridge. Continue through Wantage-Weg and Schützenallee to the Park of Generations. Here, a detour to the City Museum or St. Andreas Church is recommended. Finally, proceed through Markstraße back to the starting point.
