The adventure island at the historically significant Goethe station offers a breather after a long climb on the Harzer Hexen-Stieg.
It was often used by border guards as an illegal shelter. Today it is a popular photo motif, as the Harz narrow-gauge railroad puffs past it. Located directly on the Green Belt, it marks the transition between the mountain spruce forest and the forest-free Brocken hilltop. The special climatic conditions give rise to the "keyword flags", which are visually reminiscent of snow poles. The cue poles and resting places are located around a flat group of rocks. Further boulders will be added to this in order to embed the seating area and thus further enhance the character of the entire square.
