Located at the foot of Mount Stöberhai, the forest restaurant was a station on the narrow-gauge Southern Harz Railway on the wild and romantic route from Walkenried to Braunlage from the early to mid-20th century.
The first station building with restaurant was built in 1900. After a fire in 1907, the station building was extended to provide more space for the so-called "summer visitors". The restaurant enjoyed great popularity and remained open even after the railroad line was closed in 1963.
Today, the name "Stöberhai" stands for more than 130 years of railroad history and fine Harz gastronomy. Tip: In the evening, you can watch local wild animals being fed daily from the dining rooms.
Opening times: Tuesday to Friday 4 to 8.15 pm, Saturday and Sunday 12 to 8.15 pm
