A short hike that offers wide views of the surrounding mountains and St. Andreasberg along the entire route. It leads south of the old mining town over the distinctive Glockenberg and then returns a piece along the circular high-altitude hiking trail.
From the parking lot at "Hotel Glockenberg" the paved road goes up first, from where after 300 meters the bell tower can be seen on the right. From there you have a fantastic view of the ridge "Der Acker", to the west the Bismarck Tower and to the right of it the "Knollen" are visible. You can also see the lower town of St. Andreasberg, the street "Auf der Höhe" and the upper town.
From here it continues straight ahead to a large fork in the road.
We keep slightly to the left, the path is lined with several old trees. After a few minutes we reach the Rosstrappe, again with a beautiful wide view.
Now the same path is followed back a short distance to the mentioned fork. There we follow the sign "St. Andreasberg" to the left. On the path "Schiefe Halbe" you still have a nice view of the "Galgenberg" and the surrounding mountains of St. Andreasberg.
Soon we reach the old railway bridge that once spanned the cog railway which connected St. Andreasberg with the West Station of the state railway located deeper in the valley. Here sharply turn right and then left uphill to a large square with the old St. Andreasberg station.
Passing the building on the right, the starting point at the parking lot is reached again.
