On this varied route to the "Cross of the German East," we can reflect on German history.
The starting point of our route is the Burgberg valley station. We can either hike up the Herzogweg ourselves or comfortably take the cable car to the Great Burgberg. From Antoniusplatz, we hike to the Säperstelle – located on the path of German emperors and kings. A marked path leads us to the "Cross of the German East" at the Uhlenklippe. Here we should pause, as the cross is the "place of remembrance for expulsion and loss of homeland," the "place of rejection of all tyranny," and the "cross of understanding, reconciliation, and peace." Through the Paulischneise, we reach the Rabenklippe. A longer stay here is highly recommended, as the setting with a lynx enclosure, a friendly inn, and panoramic views invites you to linger. Along the path to the "Molkenhaus," we pass the "Tiefe Kohlstelle" and the Echo Place. The descent via the Old Toboggan Run brings us to the Sennhütte and back to the starting point of our route, the spa park.
