Beautiful circular tour following the history of the Michaelstein Monastery near Blankenburg

At the hiking car park of the Michaelstein Monastery begins a varied hike through the quiet pond landscapes around the monastery. Along the Klostergrund stream, the path slowly ascends into the Harz mountains. At the limestone cliff Volksmarskeller, the remains of an old hermit's cell recall the early origins of the monastery. Over the Eggeröder spring, the path leads through shady beech forest back to the monastery. Afterwards, it continues to the quiet Mönchemühlenteich and the legendary Hans Mönch rock before the path finally returns to Michaelstein.
