Climate hiking is not only an opportunity to experience the special nature in the Harz, but also an effective method to promote physical and mental health. It combines the therapeutic effects of exercise, fresh air, and nature experience, making Braunlage a particularly ideal place for everyone who wants to strengthen their health naturally.
The steep and long route initially runs along the promenade and local streets past the valley station of the Wurmberg cable car to the end of the Braunlage large parking lot. From here, we follow an old railway track of the "Bode" river upstream. We cross it at a distinctive granite bridge and then continue along the other side of the stream up to the Bode waterfalls. Granite blocks line the further path to the shelter at the "Bärenbrücke". Here we turn right and now climb moderately steep but steadily up the southern slope of the Wurmberg to the former granite quarry. We are rewarded with views over the Harz mountains. The inn "Rodelhaus" invites you to rest at the highest point of the route before the descent leads back to Braunlage via the "Bremkerbornweg". After crossing the federal road, we reach the upper spa park and from there via a park path back to the starting point, where outdoor fitness equipment and the Kneipp basin provide a fitting end to the route.
