One of the strongest fortification towers in Europe is located amidst the ramparts of the UNESCO World Heritage city of Goslar.
In the Zwinger, built in 1517, visitors experience the time of knights and squires. Around 6.5 metre thick walls make the Zwinger one of the strongest fortification towers in Europe and a special building just a few minutes' walk from Goslar's market square and the Kaiserpfalz. A permanent exhibition displays weapons, armour, muskets, samurai helmets and torture devices from the Middle Ages. Visitors can experience the heaviness of a chain mail shirt or argue in the “Beisskatze”. Along the way there are exciting stories from then and now.
One special feature that is not just for children's birthdays: a knightly accolade with a certificate. In the appropriate ambience of the historical tower you can receive a symbolic knighthood.
