Wernigerode (Zwölfmorgental)

Short facts

  • Wernigerode

The town of Wernigerode is located on the northern edge of the Harz Mountains at an altitude of 240 meters.

The Zwölfmorgental valley stretches south of the town, where a T-bar lift provides access to the slopes. In winter, the town also offers its guests various winter hiking trails and a cross-country ski trail.

The Zwölfmorgental near Wernigerode is home to one of the rare mat slopes. As long as there is no snow, you can still ski on these slopes. The Wernigerode ski club uses them to train outside of the short snow season in the Harz Mountains. As soon as snow has fallen, skiing is possible on a slope that is almost half a kilometer long and is accessed by a drag lift.

Other winter sports options in the Zwölfmorgental include cross-country skiing, sledging and winter hiking. The city forest trail is around ten kilometers long and leads through beautiful forests at the end of the valley.

Please note that there are only very limited parking spaces available in the Zwölfmorgental. The city bus line 202 has a stop at "Zwölfmorgental".
From the bus stop it is approx. 10 minutes' walk to the toboggan / downhill slope.
