Vogelstation

Short facts

  • Osterode am Harz

Waterfowl, hens, pigeons, ravens, but also songbirds, birds of prey and even some exotic peacocks - they can all be found at the Osterode Bird Station.

A 400-metre circular path leads through a huge wooded area and offers direct contact with the otherwise wild birds. So you can see the birds up close!

Children can feed the ducks and find free-range rabbits, peacocks, chickens and the funny runner ducks everywhere - fascinating! And if you're lucky, you might even see and hear a talking raven. But even if it doesn't feel like having a conversation, a visit is always worthwhile and your children will thank you for it.

The bird station is open daily from April to October from 10.00 to 18.00.

The bird station is not a commercial enterprise but primarily a sanctuary for sick, native birds.

How to get there
From Osterode in the direction of Sösetalsperre (B498). Parking is available at the "Schwarze Brücke" parking lot. From here it is approx. 500m on foot to the Waldvogelstation.
