The Schierker Feuerstein ancestral home. A place full of stories.
As the GDR began to close itself off from West Germany, Willy Drube's son-in-law Ernst Geyer founded the company Schierker Feuerstein KG in the West German part of the Harz Mountains. From now on, there are two Schierker Feuerstein companies: in the West, production is based on Willy Drube's original recipe, while in Schierke it is adapted to a so-called "wartime recipe". The drink remained popular in the GDR, so that the company in Schierke was expropriated in 1972 and incorporated into the Magdeburg Beverage Combine as a state-owned enterprise (VEB).
With the reunification of East and West Germany, a new era also dawned for Schierker Feuerstein. Thanks to the tireless negotiations of Dieter Geyer, Willy Drube's grandson, the East German company in Schierke is once again family-owned. To this day, herbal preparation, one of the most important production steps, is still carried out at the Schierke headquarters.
Be inspired by the history of Schierke Feuerstein in the renovated showrooms of our headquarters and find out what the granite of the Feuerstein cliffs above Schierke railroad station has to do with our herbal half-bitter. If you are interested in a tour, please feel free to contact us.
