The rose garden, born out of the civic commitment of the Nordhausen "Association of German Rose Friends", was opened in 1927.
In 1978, the striking copper rose in its centre was created by Schachtbau employees. In September 2015, after extensive renovation on the initiative of the Lions Club, who called for a telethon, the fountain could be opened by the city of Nordhausen.
Today, the rose garden - located directly next to the Südharz-Klinikum - has around 12,000 visitors a year, who can enjoy 3,500 roses in over 100 different rose varieties.
Even in winter the rose garden invites you to stay and relax. If you walk a few steps further, you will reach Nordhausen's next magnificent park and garden, the Park Hohenrode.
