Cloister Burchardi

Short facts

  • Halberstadt

The monastery of St. Burchardi was founded by Bishop Burchard I of Halberstadt in 1186; in 1206, Cistercian nuns took over the monastery.

In the course of secularisation, the monastery was dissolved and, after an eventful history, the AWZ - Bildungs- und Betreuungs-GmbH now runs the former monastery.
The complex has approx. 2,000 m² of workshops, practice and teaching rooms, an open space of approx. 7,000 m² and a used furniture store. The monastery stands for a variety of social projects and cultural offers and is part of the multi-generation house project.
