Castle and Fortress Regenstein

Short facts

The open-air museum shows many alcove rooms and well-preserved walls of the former Prussian fortress.

The open-air museum at Regenstein, about 3 km from Blankenburg (Harz), is already due to its location on a steep rocky spur at almost 300 meters above sea level, a special attraction of the Harz. Noteworthy are the many alcove rooms, in which small exhibitions are hosted. Interesting historical artefacts from the castle are here. The outdoor museum also includes some well-preserved walls of the former Prussian fortress Regenstein that became a popular destination soon after its destruction during the 18th century. Several viewpoints and a panoramic restaurant complete the leisure complex.
