The state-approved spa town of Lauterberg is surrounded by the mountains of the Harz Nature Park.
At the Heibek ski lift in Bad Lauterberg, skiers can expect an easy to moderately difficult downhill run with a length of around 300 meters. The slope is therefore ideal for beginners. The ski slope is run by the local ski club. Night skiing takes place regularly thanks to a floodlight system. The next largest ski area is the St. Andreasberg ski center. This has a larger range of pistes and is not far from Bad Lauterberg.
The selection of cross-country ski trails around Bad Lauterberg is more varied than the slopes. Cross-country skiers can join the Upper Harz cross-country trail network and thus have around 47 km at their disposal. The trails lead cross-country skiers through mixed forests with views of the Bad Lauterberg valley.
