Atelierschmiede Harz anno 1678

Short facts

  • Wernigerode

In the 335-year-old Krell smithy - the oldest smithy in Germany - work is still carried out according to old traditions.

You can actually watch a master craftsman and his journeymen at work here. This technical monument with its original, museum-like equipment really is still a craft business that is still run economically today.

Our own products, such as fire baskets and weather witches, are shipped worldwide. Custom-made grilles and gates are just as available as iron wagon tires. Forging with men of the trade in this ambience is a very special experience in the form of a forging course. There is therefore a wide range of courses on offer. For school classes, the forge offers various educational programs that provide practical support for science subjects in particular.
