The small town of Vienenburg is located on the northern edge of the Harz Mountains near Goslar and Bad Harzburg. A particularly mild climate, the Vienenburg Lake recreation area, the densely wooded Harly mountain range, the proximity to the Harz Mountains and the cultural offerings make the town of Vienenburg a popular holiday destination.
On one of the numerous guided hiking and cycling tours or on a self-created tour through the Vorharz region and the Harly, to the Harly Tower, along the Green Belt or around Lake Vienenburg, the beautiful nature can be enjoyed wonderfully.
A special highlight of Vienenburg and a must for every railway enthusiast is the railway museum in Germany's oldest preserved railway station. Built in 1840, the station presents an extensive exhibition on the development of the railway and its importance for the Vorharz region on an area of around 100 m².
The Wöltingerode Monastery with its famous monastery distillery is also worth a visit. A visit to the monastery with a tour of the monastery church followed by a guided tour of the distillery, including a tasting, can be ideally combined with a pilgrimage along the 32 km-long monastery hiking trail from Drübeck via Wöltingerode to Goslar.
In summer, the open-air lido in Vienenburg with its large pool area including water slide offers cooling down and leisure fun.
