In the town center of Bad Lauterberg, we follow the steep town exit south towards Osterhagen.
Once there, we ride a short distance on the B243 to Nüxei. Shortly after the exit sign for Nüxei, we turn left towards Tettenborn. In Tettenborn, we keep left and continue via Neuhof to Walkenried. At the entrance to the town, we immediately turn left and reach Wiedigshof and Gudersleben, then Woffleben. In Woffleben, we follow signs left to Ellrich, where we leave the pre-Harz and follow signs to Zorge/Hohegeiß. In the town center of Zorge, we turn left toward Braunlage. This is followed by a very rhythmically rideable ascent called "Nullpunkt," through which we enter the Upper Harz. In Braunlage, we follow the main road through the town center. At the town exit is an ascent to Königskrug, where, with slopes up to 10% and about 800 m altitude, we finally arrive in the Upper Harz. We follow the B4 towards Torfhaus/Bad Harzburg and shortly after turn left onto the B242 towards Clausthal-Zellerfeld. In Sonnenberg, we follow signs to St. Andreasberg via Martin-Schmidt-Berg, which is also the highest point of the route. Upon arrival in St. Andreasberg, we lose a significant amount of altitude until the town exit. At an inconspicuous intersection, we turn right to Sieber. With an average gradient of 5.4%, we regain the lost altitude over about 1 km on the Sieberberg, then descend through the Siebertal to Herzberg. At the town entrance, we keep right and follow the road via Mühlenberg, Hörden, Elbingerode, Hattorf to Wulften. From here, we follow the main road to Strohkrug, then take a left on the B247 to Gieboldehausen. Shortly after Gieboldehausen, we turn right towards Wollershausen, Lütgenhausen, and Rhumspringe. Upon arrival, we follow signs via Pöhlde back to Bad Lauterberg parallel to the B243 highway, passing through Scharzfeld and Barbis.
