The "highlight" of the route: This stage takes you through the Harz National Park to the 1141 m high Brocken, the highest mountain of the Harz and all of northern Germany.
The 1142 meter high Brocken summit appears within reach from the starting point Torfhaus. Hexen-Stieg and Goetheweg are one, on it we hike toward the most German of all mountains. The wooden green witch on the National Park signposts shows us the right way.
Here, along this paved path once ran the border that divided Germany for more than 40 years. That is history. Today we reach through the most beautiful high moors of the Harz in the Harz National Park to the highest peak of northern Germany, with an incomparable view. Schlungsklippen, Ahrensklint, Trudenstein: above Schierke the path leads past rustic rocks and through dense forests to our stage destination, right at the station of the Harz narrow-gauge railway.
