Start your hike at the end of the Granetalweg. This hiking trail initially leads you down with up to 10% gradient to the Pochwerkplatz in the Granetal, the lowest point of the hike. There, immediately turn left into the Hexenbankweg. Follow this for about 2.3 km up to the Hexenbank (530 m above sea level), a newly designed viewpoint with a wonderful panorama and good rest opportunities. After about 1 km you reach the Oberförster Hermann Müller Monument (560 m above sea level). Before the monument (behind the Harzklub hut) turn right into a flat hiking trail which leads you to the Werner-Pissin hut. After about 200 m you reach the Tetschwasserstraße, which gently descends past the Peiffer Fountain at about 550 m height to the Schlackenweg. Keep left and follow the path for about 1.8 km. The path has sections with a gradient of 5 to 6%. Before the hut Am Gottlob turn left. After about 50 m cross the Hahnenkleer Bergstraße and then hike down the Hahnenkleer Bergloipe ski cross-country piste (5 to 6% gradient) to Lautenthaler Straße. After a few minutes you reach the center of Hahnenklee.
