The northern Harz foothills between Hornburg, Osterwieck, Vienenburg, Bad Harzburg, Ilsenburg, and Wernigerode: Among its gentle hills, only the Große Fallstein stands out as an unmistakable viewpoint. This charming landscape invites cyclists to a route along the Green Belt. The route passes orchards, fields, and chestnut avenues, through untouched nature and to the remains of the former border installations.

Between Hornburg and Ilsenburg, as well as the Ilse and Oker rivers, you cycle 70 kilometers through flat terrain with few inclines. Cyclists can reach Ilsenburg, Vienenburg, or Schladen by environmentally friendly train – ideal starting points for this route along the Green Belt. At the intersections with the former border, you will find information boards about sights, special views, and typical plants and animals.
