St.-Andreas-Kirche

Short facts

  • Seesen

St. Andrew's Church was built by Duke Rudolf August of Brunswick and Lüneburg as a court and palace church and consecrated in 1702 to the glory of God.

The name and the courtly coat of arms above the door of the west entrance point to the builder. The baroque church is unique in the Braunschweig region due to its two-storey gallery and the connection between the altar and pulpit supported by 8 columns. The provost and parish church of St. Andreas is the only Protestant church in the town center of Seesen and belongs to the parish of St. Vitus and St. Andreas, which is the second largest parish in the regional church of Braunschweig.

The immediate proximity of St. Andreas Church and the Protestant Church Center enables a diverse community life. In 2002, the organ was completely renovated thanks to generous donations from the people of Seesen. The "Concerts at St. Andreas" are known beyond the region.

Evangelical services are celebrated on Saturdays at 6 pm and Sundays at 10 am. The church can be visited daily from 2 - 5 pm.
