Mining Museum & Historical Silver Mine "Lautenthals Glück"

Short facts

  • Langelsheim OT Lautenthal

The silver mine "Lautenthals Glück" is one of the oldest still accessible mines in the Upper Harz Mountains.

Access to the mine is by mine trains up to the main shaft. You can experience the underground St. Barbara's Chapel, the bolt scrap shaft, the drilling site, the old mines, the diagonal excavation and the geological fascination of the Middle Devonian on three different levels. In addition, various mining equipment is demonstrated and explained. The unique Upper Harz ore shipping in the mountain is reconstructed in the approximately 450-year-old water solution of the silver mine. The approximately 150 m long journey on the underground, navigable waterway is a fascinating experience. Underground celebrations and events take place in the romantic ore barge harbour, also known as "Venice unter Tage" (Venice underground).
