The museum exhibits historical household items and farming tools, old folk costumes as well as minerals and animal specimens from the Bode Valley.
Just before the picturesque Bode Valley takes on its unspoilt character and the Bode River roars and hisses its way between rugged rock faces - the Roßtrappe on one side and the Hexentanzplatz on the other - the picturesque climatic health resort of Altenbrak stretches almost 2 km along the Bode, surrounded by meadows and forests.
In 1982, a museum of local history was established in Altenbrak thanks to loans and donations from local residents and museums. The museum displays historical household items and farming tools, old folk costumes from the region as well as minerals and animal specimens from the Bode Valley between Altenbrak and Treseburg. The historical customs of the region are documented here in a remarkable way using clothing, everyday objects and photographs. A special feature of the small museum are the 25 doll's houses.
