Waldgaststätte Rabenklippe

Short facts

The mighty stone blocks and towering granite rocks have always exerted and continue to exert a somewhat eerie and mystical effect on visitors.

Unfortunately, it has not yet been possible to determine exactly how they got their name. The cliffs were "sleeping beauty" when the first spa doctor, Dr. Carl Franke, persuaded his former landlord, the carpenter Wilhelm Schilling (1836-1907), to open a small bar at the Rabenklippe in addition to his small restaurant in Bündheim (today: "Brauhaus").

On May 24, 1874, the enterprising Bündheimer opened an open stall made from birch trunks, which was initially only open on Sundays. Mrs. Johanne Schilling carried the drinks up the hill in a pannier. As the business flourished and became very popular not only with hikers, Dommes and Kobus managed to get Schilling to build a permanent structure.

Since 29.6.1999, the "Rabenklippen" has been owned by the Gummich family, who have already been delighted to welcome numerous guests, as the forest inn is not only very popular with hikers, but is also highly regarded by many for its excellent cuisine.

Open daily from 10 am to 6 pm, closed on Mondays
