The Baumann cave is the oldest show cave in Germany.

The Baumann cave is the oldest show cave in Germany. According to legend, it was discovered by the miner Friedrich Baumann in the mid-16th century accidentally when he was looking for iron ore. Already in 1646 organized tours were held. Johann Wolfgang von Goethe was so impressed by the huge stalactites and stalagmites of the cave that he even visited it several times. Find in one of the largest cavity the artificial lake “Wolfgang” and Germany's only underground stage "Goethe Hall", which was named after him. Here numerous events are held such as theatre performances, weddings or corporate events
