Wolfshagen in the Harz Mountains

Birthplace of H.E. Steinway

The state-recognised climatic health resort and birthplace of Heinrich Engelhard Steinweg - H.E. Steinway - Wolfshagen lies in the midst of mountain meadows and rolling hills, nestled in the dreamlike Harz Mountains landscape between the Innerste and Granetalsperre dams.

Hiking enthusiasts and nature lovers can enjoy Wolfshagen's natural beauty on numerous hiking trails around the village and on a well-developed network of hiking trails that lead, for example, along the Innerste and Grane reservoirs. Mountain bikers also get their money's worth here, as Wolfshagen offers access to the Volksbank Arena Harz trail network.

Many places offer a magnificent view over the beautiful Harz Mountains landscape. Rare animal and plant species can be admired in the renaturalised quarry and the landscape conservation area near the village.

The Innerstetalsperre is also a popular destination for recreational and professional water sports enthusiasts. Besides surfing and sailing, you can also simply relax here and enjoy the warm rays of the sun. Another attraction in the summer months is the lido ('Wölfi-Bad'). The 15,000 m² outdoor lido in the forest offers a pool for swimmers, non-swimmers and children, a diving area and a large sunbathing lawn with beach volleyball court, adventure playground, mini-golf course and barbecue area. There is a camping site near the Wölfi pool.

The latest highlight is the Steinway Trail, a cultural-historical hiking trail that follows Steinway's footsteps between Wolfshagen and Seesen.
