The 1900 kilometres long pilgrim trail "VIA ROMEA", from Stade (close to Hamburg) to Rom, from Neustadt (Harz) to Nordhausen.
Starting point in Neustadt is the St. Georg church. From there, the tour takes you from the forests of the Harz to the wide countryside of the southern Harz. After a hike through the landscape of the southern Harz, we reach Nordhausen.

We start at the St. Georg-Church in Neustadt / Harz. The "Steinstraße" and the "Torstraße" lead us across the "Landesstraße" to the left into the "Rüdigsdorfer Weg". After a right turn, it becomes a field path. Afterwards, we go to a wooded height. After we have crossed this one, we go again down to a valley and then straight back to a mountain range. Through a wooded area, the route takes us to "Rüdigsdorf". Go straight through Rüdigsdorf ("Wolfsgasse", "Winkelberg") and then continue on the country road to Nordhausen. After a long right turn on the country road, we turn left into a field path. The path leads uphill again. Once up, we follow the ridge path and then go back down the mountain. Just before Nordhausen, the road turns into the concrete way and then into a street ("Am Kuhberg"). Continue on the "Gumpestrasse" to the Bundesstrasse (federal road) 4, which we follow to the left, towards the town centre ("Parkallee"). We then turn left into the street "Am Alten Tor". We reach the centre via the roads "Altendorf", "Barfüßerstraße", "Kranichstraße" and "Engelsburg". At the town hall, we reach the destination of the tour.

Neustadt im Harz is only a few kilometres away from Nordhausen. Neustadt is connected to the motorway network (BAB 39) and the federal road network (B4) via Nordhausen (Southern Harz).
