Hohegeiss

Resort and winter sports centre

Hohegeiss is a district of Braunlage and is surrounded by flowering mountain meadows and green forests at an elevation of 642 m above sea level.
With its clean air, unspoilt and pristine nature, flowering mountain meadows with rare plants and herbs and romantic valleys, Hohegeiss is an ideal holiday destination for those seeking relaxation.

During a walk through the small village, it is worthwhile to visit the wooden church " Zur Himmelspforte" ("The Gates of Heaven"), which dates back to 1701.
The "Alte Pfarre" museum of local history in Hohegeiss' oldest house is also worth a visit. Here visitors can learn interesting facts about the history of the town and the former inner-German border, which ran along the outskirts of the town.

You can get active here, for example, on hikes or mountain bike tours through the unique Harz Mountains landscape and in the summer months also in the idyllically situated forest lido with diving tower and beach volleyball court in Hohegeiss.

In the cold season, the winter wonderland scenery around Hohegeiß is just beautiful. On a tour of the well-prepared cross-country skiing network or on a hike through the snow-covered landscape, you can experience the full beauty of winter. The ski centre "Am Brande", a toboggan run and the natural ice rink round off the extensive winter sports offer.
