Hasselfelde health resort
Hasselfelde is located on the Upper Harz and Brocken in the Harz Nature Park on a high plateau, surrounded by the impressive dam system of Bode and Bode Rapp.
With a 190km long well-marked hiking trail system, including the "Terrainkurwegenetz", the "Nature trail" and the"Koehlerweg", as well as the direct location on the southern route of the Harzer-Hexen-Stieg and the Selketal-Stieg, Hasselfelde is an adventurous holiday destination for hikers and nature lovers.
By following the Harz Narrow-Gauge Railway and the lovingly restored railway station, the town has to offer yet another highlight.
Of particular interest is the charcoal burning company, Harzkoehlerei Stemberg. As one of the last charcoal burning places, the Stemberg House offers you the opportunity to learn the traditional art of carbonisation the wood. The charcoal burning museum presents the history and provides an insight into the difficult working and living conditions of the workers. From early April to late October you have opportunities to experience live the old traditional craft. Watch the workers building the mud kilns, the decarburisation and charcoal collection.
Just outside the city Hasselfelde, about 1km from the centre, is the amusement park, Pullman City. With the slogan "with animals back to nature" visitors can discover on a 100,000 m² area the 19th century western town, which takes them completely back to American history and culture, without the violence.
Swimmers and sunbathers can relax from May until September in the idyllic forest lido, filled with pure spring water. A 10,000 m² swimming pool, diving tower, a large playground and sunbathing area with beach volleyball, offer fun for young and old.
In winter, a variety of well maintained trails, an ice-rink and different sledging runs give variety in the snowy landscape.
