Hasselfelde

The district of the town of Oberharz am Brocken lies in the middle of the Harz Nature Park on a high plateau, embedded in the impressive dam system of the Bode and Rappbode rivers. With its 190 km of well-signposted hiking trails, including walking routes of the 'Terrainkurwegenetz' (special network of trails), the 'Naturlehrpfad' (nature trail) and the 'Köhlerweg' (charcoal burner trail), its direct location on the southern route of the 'Harzer-Hexen-Stieg' (Harz witches' trail) and the 'Selketal-Stieg' (Selk Valley trail), as well as the 'Via Romea', Hasselfelde is an eventful holiday destination for hiking enthusiasts and nature lovers.
With its connection to the Harz Narrow Gauge Railways, the town can offer another highlight.

The charcoal kilns of the Stemberghaus are also worth a visit. As one of the charcoal burners, the Stemberghaus offers visitors the opportunity to learn about the traditional charring of wood. The charcoal burners' museum presents the history of charcoal burning and gives an insight into the difficult working and living conditions of the charcoal burners. The charcoal burner's hut, which seats up to 100 people in a rustic ambience, offers good food and drink in the charcoal burner's style. From the beginning of April to the end of October, the old craft can be experienced live during the construction of the traditional earth piles, the charring and harvesting.

The Pullman City Harz adventure park is located on the outskirts of Hasselfelde, about 1 km from the town centre. On an area of 100,000 m², a Western town set in the mid-19th century presents itself, taking the visitor back to the past of American history and culture in a completely non-violent way under the motto "back to nature with the animals".

The idyllically situated lido 'Waldseebad', which is fed with pure spring water, provides water fun and relaxation from May to September. A 10,000 m² swimming pool, a diving tower and a large play and sunbathing area with beach volleyball court offer recreational fun for young and old.

In winter, numerous groomed cross-country ski trails, natural ice rinks and various toboggan slopes provide variety in the snow-covered landscape. You can find more information about winter sports in Hasselfelde here: wintersport.harzinfo.de!
