As a state- approved health resort Elbingerode with a height of 450-480 meters above sea level has a distinct alpine climate.

Walkers, cyclists and nature lovers will find beautiful scenery; well-marked hiking trails and many bike trails, as well as interesting attractions and points of view.

A special highlight is the "Mining Historical Circular Route through the Bodfeld". Here travellers will be informed of the importance of the 1,000-year history of mining and smelting region.
