Braunlage

The heart of the Harz Mountains

The health and winter sports resort Braunlage, at an elevation of 600-971 meters above sea level, is located in the Upper Harz Mountains. It combines every facet of the beautiful nature of the Harz National Park and ranks among one of the oldest ski areas of Germany.

Various hikes such as the nature myth trail, the long-distance hiking trail 'Harzer-Hexen-Stieg' and the mountain bike trail network of the 'Volksbank Arena Harz' offer hiking enthusiasts and mountain bikers an interesting and eventful way to discover the Harz mountains. A popular destination is the Wurmberg in Braunlage. With the Wurmberg cable car, the mountain adventure playground on the summit, the monster scooter rental and the seven, largely natural routes of the Bikepark Braunlage, you will find a wide range of leisure activities here. On the observation tower on the summit, newly built in 2019, you can let your gaze wander over the Harz mountains.

In the winter, at an altitude of 971 metres above sea level, the Wurmberg offers the highest and largest Ski Area of the Harz Mountains. Skiers and snowboarders will find modern ski lifts and ski runs from easy to difficult. Two ski meadows with lifts and an excellent ski school provide the perfect opportunity to learn skiing on easy slopes.

For the cross-country skier, there are many trails with different lengths, some of which are partially illuminated. Various sledging runs and the Wurmberg toboggan ensure fun for young and old, while walkers can enjoy the beautiful winter landscape on cleared paths for snowshoe hikes or by a romantic horse-drawn carriage. The Eisstadion (ice rink) offers visitors the opportunity to do ice-skating, curling and ice discos.
